describe DSM criteria for OCD
A You need to have either obsessions or compulsions.
B Patient recognises that the obsessions and compulsions are excessive/unreasonable
C Obsessions or compulsions cause marked distress, are time consuming or significantly interview with the patient’s functioning
D Exclusion of other axis 1- other psychiatric illnesses
E Exclusion of other general medical condition
describe DSM criteria for schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is defined as having at least 2 of the following psychotic symptoms for 6 months : delusions, disorganised speech, hallucinations, negative symptoms, catatonia and or other abnormal behaviour. Patient must also have criterion A symptoms (delusions/hallucinations/disorganised speech) for 1 month.
