ACO**
Accountable Care Organization - the name of a 3-year (through 2023) pilot program partnership with DHA, Kaiser Permanente and Humana Military. It allows beneficiaries to seek care from Kaiser network providers in Atlanta, GA area to improve efficiency and effectiveness of care.
• Prime coverage plan option only in the East region.
AD
Active Duty - sponsor’s status while activated in the military.
• Family members will follow the status
ADDS
Active Duty Deceased Sponsor - ADSM (Active Duty Service Member) died while on Active Duty Status.
- Surviving children are eligible for AD benefits until they age out (age 21 or up to age 23 for full-time college students)
- Surviving spouse is eligible for AD benefits for 3 years after the sponsor’s deceased date. (After 3 years, he/she would be eligible for Non-Active duty benefits and must pay fees for their enrollment.)
ADFM
Active Duty Family Member - dependents of an active duty service member.

- Ward
- Parent/Parent-in-law – CEBO will not process transactions.
ADSM
Active Duty Service Member - a member of the uniformed services.
ATC
Access to Care - urgent medical issues (care needed, prescription needed, etc.)
• ATC standards means within a 30-minute drive time.
BWE
Beneficiary Web Enrollment - government web applications that allows a sponsor and/or family member to initiate enrollment transactions (address updates, PCM change, new enrollment, etc.)
BENE
Beneficiary - a person that could be eligible for TRICARE benefits.

- Child, Step-children, Ward, Adoptee, etc.
CHCBP**
Continued Health Care Benefit Program - a temporary transitional health plan that provides continuous coverage immediately after TRICARE eligibility ends for specific beneficiaries.
- CHCBP is not a TRICARE program.
- Humana Military is the contractor to service the world.
DBN
DEERS Beneficiary ID Number - unique number used in place of the sponsor’s ID (SSN).
DEERS
Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System - a government area responsible for updating the sponsor’s and family members’ eligibility per uniformed services.
DHA
Defense Health Agency - integrated support agency that provides direction for military medical services.
DMDC
Defense Manpower Data Center - a managed care support contractor that manages the Government OpsConnect applications (DOES, PCM Research, etc.)
• DMDC has a TRICARE contract like Humana Military.
DMIS ID
Defense Military Information System ID - a four digit internal number used to identify a Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
• The caller does not know the number.
DOB
Date of Birth - required for authentication purposes to authorize a caller.
• If the caller is calling about another family member, he/she must provide the first/last name and DOB as well.
DoD
Department of Defense - U.S government area responsible for military operations.
DOES
Defense Online Enrollment System - an OpsConnect application managed by DMDC and used to process enrollment transactions (address updates, new enrollment, PCM change, transfer, etc.)
DP
Designated Provider (also referred to as USFHP) - a facility with a TRICARE Prime contract (John Hopkins, St. Martin’s Point, Christus Health, etc.)
FIN
Foreign Identification Number - a foreign military member on assignment in the U.S
• Sponsor ID will begin with 9.
HCDP
Health Care Delivery Plan - a 3 digit number that identifies a TRICARE coverage plan.
- 310 - TRICARE Prime Active Duty Sponsors
- 311 - TRICARE Prime Active Duty Family Members
- 303 - TRICARE Prime Select Active Duty Family Members
- 312 - TRICARE Prime Remote Active Duty Sponsors
- 313 - TRICARE Prime Remote Active Duty Family Members
- 314 - TRICARE Prime TAMP Sponsors and Family Members
- 304 - TRICARE Select TAMP Sponsors and Family Members
- 315 - TRICARE Prime Retired Sponsors and Family Members
- 305 - TRICARE Select Retired Sponsors and Family Members
KP**
Kaiser Permanente - a TRICARE Prime option that allows a beneficiary to receive primary and specialty care through KP providers, facilities, and pharmacies.
LOA
Letter of Acceptance - an acceptance letter from a civilian provider’s office when a beneficiary would request a provider with patient restrictions (ex. not accepting new patients, existing patients only, etc.)
- Must have provider’s letterhead.
- Must include the beneficiary’s name, DOB, and DBN.
LOE
Loss of Eligibility - a disenrollment reason updates by the DEERS office.
• Associates cannot manually disenroll an ADFM, TAMP or NAD beneficiary for LOE.
MCSC
Managed Care Support Contractors - Humana Military, Health Net Federal Services and DMDC are contractors awarded a TRICARE contract for the T2017 contract effective 01/01/2018.
MTF
Military Treatment Facility - a clinic or hospital located on base or in the community.
• The MTF can mandate enrollment to their facility as long as there is capacity.
NAD
Non Active Duty - sponsor’s status when they retire.
• Family members will follow the status.
NADD
Non Active Duty Dependent - family members of a retired sponsor.
NDAA
National Defense Authorization Act - federal laws passed by Congress for the Department of Defense (DoD).
