What is TCP
TCP - breaks the data into packets and reassembles it when it gets to it’s destination.
What is IP?
IP - Routes and Addresses packets to ensure they are sent to the right destination. also acts as an addressing system. occurs on the Internet layer
What is UDP?
A faster alternative to TCP. used when lower latency (lower lag) is important. does not check for errors, so packets may be lost or out of order. occurs on the transport layer
What is HTTP/HTTPS
used to transfer web pages over the internet so users can view them in a web browser. All URLs start with HTTP or HTTPS. HTTPS is a more secure version of HTTP that works alongside SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to transfer encrypted data.
What is FTP
Can be used to transfer files across a network
What is ICMP
Collects network status information (e.g. Router errors) and is used for trouble shooting. Happens on the Network layer.
What is SNMP
records network statistics such as router usage. Happens on the Application layer
What is SMTP
Used to send emails to a mail server or between mail servers
What is POP
download and store emails form a mail server
What is GDPR
A set of legislation surrounding responsibly storing data
What is MIS
An MIS is a Management Information system. it is used to collect store, analyse and present data
What is CRM?
a CRM is a customer relationship management system. it is used to improve the relationship between an organisation and it’s customers
What is SOP
An SOP is a standard operating procedure. it is a comprehensive step by step guide on how to carry out a given business routine

An SOP is a sales ordering process. this is the process of a customer buying a product or service and the company reviewing that service
