Topical/ systemic corticosteroids

Treat a patient with open and closed comedones
BPO, retinoids, clascoterone
Treat a patient with open/closed comedones and inflammatory papules/pustules
BPO, retinoids, antibiotic, dapsone, oral contraceptive and oral spironolactone
Treating severe acne
Isotretinoin
Isotretinoin dosing
150-220mg/kg
Maintenance dose up to 2mg/kg/day
Uncommon, occurs with explosive onset with accompanying sternal and clavicle pain
Acne fulminans
Pregnancy considerations for acne
Category B- topical clinda, Azelaic acid, erythromycin
Category C topical BPO, dapsone
Category X topical tazarotene and oral isotretinoin
