Acids and Bases Flashcards
Base
A base is something that can neutralize an acid
Bases are proton acceptors
Features_ come in soluble or insoluble in water
Acids
Are substances that form (H+) ions when they dissolve
Are proton donors(H+)
PH scale
a PH scale is a measure of how acidic or alkaline a solution is.
Neutral
A neutral substance has PH 7
It is green
PH scale Acids
An acid is a substance that has a pH less than 7.
Strongest being a pH 0
PH scale Alkali
An Alkali is substance that has a PH greater than 7.
Strongest alkali has 14

Amphoteric oxide
Amphotiric will react with both acids and bases to form a salt and water
