Q

Plants - What do plants need, what are they made of?

A

Plants need oxygen, carbon dioxide, and sunlight to photosynthesize which takes place in two phases. They need stability such as soil, but some plants grow in water or on rocks without soil. Roots, stems, and leaves are basic parts of plants. Plants have cell walls that animals do not.

Q

Weather - Describe how seasons are caused and what they are like, and how night and day are caused and what they are like.

A

The seasons are caused by the 23* tilt of Earth that causes it to face the sun more sometimes and less other times. The summer is a more direct tilt, winter a less direct tilt. In some places winter is snowy, but it is cooler in most places and the sky gets darker faster. In some places summers are hot, but in most places, the sky stays bright longer. Night and day are the Earth spinning away from and towards the sun as it orbits.

Q

Matter - What are the phases of matter and how does matter change phases?

A

Solid, liquid, gas, plasma. More energy causes molecules to break crystalline structures due to collisions and become more fluid. Plasma is a magnetically charged gas, some tests will say there are three forms of matter, even though four is correct.
