Acellus G1 Science ⚗️ Flashcards
Describe plant parts.
Roots, stems, leaves, flower and fruit.
Describe plant growth.
A plant seed will sprout leaves, photosynthesize to get the energy to grow, develop roots to support the stem, grow upwards to maximize photosynthesis, and start storing sugar to make new flowers and seeds.
Why is science important?
It solves many human problems.
Describes animal needs vs plant needs.
Both need air, plants need sun and animals need food, plants need carbon dioxide, animals may need shelter. Plants may need soil.
Describe wetlands, what makes wetlands, what animals live there?
Describe forests, what makes forests, what animals live there?
Describe oceans, what makes oceans, what animals live there?
Describe deserts, what makes deserts, what animals live there?
How do plants adapt to the deserts and jungles?
Jungle plants have broad dark leaves to capture sun light and the leaves have points for water to flow off faster. Deserts have lighter leaves that may be waxy to prevent water loss.
What is one design based on animals that is used to help people?
Coats mimick animal fur, helmets mimick animal shells.
What is an antenna?
Stalks that are on the head of insects they can detect chemicals or air flow.
Describe the life cycle of one animal?
Butterflies start as eggs, grow to caterpillars or larvae, turn to pupa, form a chrysalis, and emerge as a winged butterfly.
How can an animal get food?
Eating a plant or another animal or fungi.
Name some plants we can eat?
