What are the objectives of access openings?

A
  1. locate all the canals
  2. straight line access (may also be done in initial cleaning and shaping)
  3. removal of the chamber roof and all coronal pulp tissue
  4. be conservative, but get the job done (remove caries, unsupported enamel, etc.)
