Acoustic guitar
One that needs no electronic amplification

Heart shaped pattern, picks up only one side. Fewer problems for feedback

Part of the song that is repeated
Circuit breaker
Electrical safety device that automatically switches off the power supply as soon as it detects a problem or fault
Connector
Plug or termination at each end of a lead or cable. Most common is Jack for general connections, XLR for mica

Where equipment and engineer are situated
Count in
Beats before a piece starts to give tempo. Should be eliminated from final mix
Distortion
Grating sound when an incorrect setting is used. Standard for electric guitar and organ
Drum kit
Groups of drums and cymbals
Dry
A signal that has no effect added to it
Echo
Physical reflection of sound wave from a reflective surface which gradually diminishes in energy
Electric guitar
With jack sockets, output like a mic. 3 techniques:
Positioning mic in front of amp
Plugging into a DI box
Using a guitar pod/processor which fulfils roles of both mic and DI box
Fade in
Track increases gradually from silence
Fade out
Decreases gradually to silence
