Ambiguous
open to multiple interpretations of something; unclear
Comprehend
to understand or to process the nature or meaning of something
Concrete
able to be seen and touched; physical
Confirm
to establish the truth, accuracy, or genuineness of something
Context
the set of circumstances that surround a particular event or situation
Evidence
things which tend to prove or disprove something
Evaluate
to judge or determine the significance, worth, or quality of; to place value on
Implicit
Not directly stated; implied and not plainly expressed.
Verify
To make sure something is true
Differentiate
to recognize or figure out what makes something or different
Discern
to recognize or perceive
Explicit
Directly stated; clear
Perception
one’s understanding of something, especially as seen through the filter of that person’s emotions, experiences,biases, and five senses
Objective
unbiased; without emotion or preference
Reality
what is actually there; we arrive at this by taking an experience in through our senses
Subjective
based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions
Truth
provable fact OR that which someone believes to be true_
Fact
Something that is verifiable; we can determine if it is true by researching the evidence
Opinion
A judgement based on facts
Belief
a conviction (firmly held) idea based on cultural or personal faith, morality, or values. Beliefs cannot be the basis for a thesis of a formal argument (essay/speech)
Literal
Words in their most basic sense without metaphor, allegory or poetic language
Figurative
Departing (separate) from the literal. Figurative IS metaphorical, poetic, and/or allegorical.
