An act that breaks an informal law (breaks social “norms” and values)
Define White Collar Crime
Case study?
A crime committed by a person of respectability and high social status in the course of his/her occupation.

Define fraud
Wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain.
What is a Ponzi Scheme?
An investment fraud that pays existing investors with funds collected from new investors.
Define Moral Crime
Case Study?
Actions and behaviour that do not conform to accepted standards of what is considered right or wrong.

Give some examples of what would be considered a moral crime
Prostitution, bigamy, gambling, drug offences, sale of obscene materials
Define Technological Crime
Case study?
A crime that involves a computer or a network (internet). A computer can be used to commit crime or be the target of crime.

Hacking, Cyberstalking, Identity theft scams, Online harassment, Invasion of Privacy
Define Hate Crime
Case study?
A crime that typically involves violence that is motivated by prejudice. This can be on the basis of race, religion, sexuality, disability or gender identity.

Give some examples of what hate crime includes
Homophobia, racism, misogyny, descrimination against religion, disability discrimation
Define State Crime
Case study?
A State Crime is an illegal or deviant activity committed by the state, or with the complicity of state agencies.

Genocide, corruption, assassination, war crimes
Define Honour Crime
Case study?
Honour Crime are acts of violence, usually murder upon a person who has “brought shame” or “dishonour” upon their family.

Define Domestic Abuse
Case study?
Domestic abuse is an incident or a pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive, threatening, degrading and violent behaviour including sexual violence.

Criminal or deviant: moral crime? Reason why?
Both- often because its just against social norms but sometimes they cross the line into an act that is illegal, i.e. drug dealing.
Criminal or deviant: hate crime? Reason why?
Criminal- protected characteristics in place by law.
Criminal or deviant: domestic abuse? Reason why?
Criminal- because it is causing physical or physcological damage to another individual (a victim involved).
Criminal or deviant: honour crime? Reason why?
Both- could be seen as normal for the “leader” of a family to want his family to have a good reputation and follow their culture, BUT a lot of cases, it ends in murder which is of course criminal.
Criminal or deviant: technological crime? Reason why?
Both- no laws against certain “crimes” i.e. cyberbullying, however some break formal harassment laws.
Criminal or deviant: white collar crime? Reason why?
Criminal-there are multiple completely illegal acts under this crime (e.g. fraud) operated in bigger groups.
