If you see this indication and all AC equipment is still operating properly, what is the diagnosis?

What is the suggested course of action?

A

Gen Failure with good crossover OR Gearbox Failure to Shift

Determine which emergency it is by running EE-21, by first attempting a Gen Reset, the putting the engine RPM in the Gen Shift Range to see if it is a fail to shift of a Gen Failure.

Attempt Gen Reset, refer to the checklist EE-21

What other indications do you expect to see?

A

Right Gen Failure (No Crossover)

A blank HUD and UFCP
Flap motors, trim, right boost pump, right TRU, and pitot heater are inop
Loss of air conditioning temp control and slow loss of canopy seal (eventual loss of cabin pressure)
Flight hydraulic indicator freezes

A

Left Gen Failure (No Crossover)

HUD/MFD CAUTION message and “ENGINE, ENGINE” VM followed by a “CAUTION, CAUTION” VM followed by another “ENGINE, ENGINE” VM

Left oil pressure and left fuel flow indicators
show “OFF”

AOA indexer lights fail to all ON and AOA
indicator blank on MFD

Left boost pump, left TRU, and SAS/rudder
trim are inoperative (Yaw switch OFF)

Instrument/console lights, landing/taxi light,
position light, and rotating beacons are
inoperative

Other — Utility hydraulic indicator freezes.

What else could you diagnose this as and what should you do to prevent confusion?

A

Airframe Mounted Gearbox Failure

These indications also mimic a seized engine display. Ensure the engine is still running before diagnosing a gearbox failure.
