AC perf Lesson 1 Flashcards
CS 23 is for
Small ac
Cs 25 is for
Larger ac
Part CAT is
Commercial air transport (more relevant to pilots)
Airline ops manual & manufactures ops manual both refer to the
Part cat
Manufacturers designing aircraft adhere both to
Cs 23 and cs 25
Measured performance is
Achieved by test pilots on test ac. Unachievable
Gross performance
50\50 chance of getting. Fleet average performance. Can’t use this, as only 50% change of achieving this. But you assume to get this.
You must at least get the
Net performance. Which is gross performance reduced by an amount to improve safety
Chance level must be
1 in 1,000,000. Chance of a failure followed by below NET performance.
Net performance is always …. than gross
Which means gross allows a …. climb.
Which means net allows a ….. descent
Worse
Greater % climb
Greater % descent
All jets & turboprops (9 or less pax or MAX tom exceeding 5700kg) follow performance class
A. - follows CS25
All props with weight less than or equal to 5700kg. And 9 seats or less. Follow perf class
B. Follows CS23
Ac powered by reciprocating engines. Piston engines. More than 9 seats OR a max tom exceeding 5700kg. Follow perf class
C
CAS / IAS used for
Stall speeds
TAS used for
Navigation
