How do the police and CPS work together?
CPS advise the police during the early stages of the investigation, CPS brief police on the evidence they will give in court, police can contact CPS 24/7 via CPS Direct, CPS check admissibility of police’s evidence, CPS present police’s evidence in court
How do the police and courts work together?
Police can give evidence in court, police can apply to courts for warrants, denied bail in courts can be held in police cells pending removal to prison custody (Bail Act 1976) (Terrorism Act 2000), police ask permission for prolonged detention, defence lawyers attend police station to advise clients
