Abu Dawud

Question 1

قَالَ خَدَمْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَشْرَ سِنِينَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَأَنَا غُلاَمٌ لَيْسَ كُلُّ أَمْرِي كَمَا يَشْتَهِي صَاحِبِي أَنْ أَكُونَ عَلَيْهِ مَا قَالَ لِي فِيهَا أُفٍّ قَطُّ وَمَا قَالَ لِي لِمَ فَعَلْتَ هَذَا أَوْ أَلاَ فَعَلْتَ هَذَا ‏.‏

Answer 1

4774 I Served khidmat (served) the prophet saws for 10 years in madinah, i did not follow every command and give attention to my master when it was given upon me. but he never said to me: Uff, never said to me: “Why did you do this? or Why did you not do this?”

Question 2

“‏ إِنَّ الْهَدْىَ الصَّالِحَ وَالسَّمْتَ الصَّالِحَ وَالاِقْتِصَادَ جُزْءٌ مِنْ خَمْسَةٍ وَعِشْرِينَ جُزْءًا مِنَ النُّبُوَّةِ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 2

4776 Indeed the guidance piety and a pious name and the economy are from 25 parts from the parts of prophethood.

Question 3

‏ مَا تَعُدُّونَ الصُّرَعَةَ فِيكُمْ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ قَالُوا الَّذِي لاَ يَصْرَعُهُ الرِّجَالُ ‏.‏ قَالَ ‏”‏ لاَ وَلَكِنَّهُ الَّذِي يَمْلِكُ نَفْسَهُ عِنْدَ الْغَضَبِ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 3

4779 who do you consider frightful from you? The one who is not frightened by a man. He said: “No, he is the one who controls himself when angry.”

Question 4

اسْتَبَّ رَجُلاَنِ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَجَعَلَ أَحَدُهُمَا تَحْمَرُّ عَيْنَاهُ وَتَنْتَفِخُ أَوْدَاجُهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ “‏ إِنِّي لأَعْرِفُ كَلِمَةً لَوْ قَالَهَا هَذَا لَذَهَبَ عَنْهُ الَّذِي يَجِدُ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ ‏”

Answer 4

4781 2 men reconciled close to Nabi saws : One of them eyes became red and veins were swollen. So the prophet SAWS said: Indeed i know some words tthat is he says this for his anger the one upon him will find peace: I seek refuge with Allah from Shaytaan the cursed))

Question 5

‏ “‏ إِذَا غَضِبَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ فَلْيَجْلِسْ فَإِنْ ذَهَبَ عَنْهُ الْغَضَبُ وَإِلاَّ فَلْيَضْطَجِعْ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 5

4782 When any one of you becomes angry he should sit down if he is standing, so if the angry goes from him except he should lie down.

Question 6

مَا ضَرَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم خَادِمًا وَلاَ امْرَأَةً قَطُّ ‏

Answer 6

4786 The Prophet SAWS never hit a servant or women.

Question 7

فِي قَوْلِهِ ‏{‏ خُذِ الْعَفْوَ ‏}‏ قَالَ أُمِرَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنْ يَأْخُذَ الْعَفْوَ مِنْ أَخْلاَقِ النَّاسِ ‏.‏

Answer 7

4787 In his words ((Hold onto forgiveness)) Nabi SAWS commanded that to hold onto forgiveness from the Akhlak of human nature.

Question 8

إِذَا بَلَغَهُ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ الشَّىْءُ لَمْ يَقُلْ مَا بَالُ فُلاَنٍ يَقُولُ وَلَكِنْ يَقُولُ ‏ “‏ مَا بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ يَقُولُونَ كَذَا وَكَذَا ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 8

4788 When Nabi SAWS was informed of a man he would not say anything: What is the matter with so and so? Or what he says? ((What is the matter with the people that say such and such))

Question 9

‏ “‏ الْمُؤْمِنُ غِرٌّ كَرِيمٌ وَالْفَاجِرُ خِبٌّ لَئِيمٌ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 9

4790 A believer is simple and generous, and an immoral person is deceitful and not honorable.

Question 10

‏ “‏ يَا عَائِشَةُ إِنَّ مِنْ شِرَارِ النَّاسِ الَّذِينَ يُكْرَمُونَ اتِّقَاءَ أَلْسِنَتِهِمْ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 10

4793 Oh Aishah, indeed from people there are evil and there are ones that are respected and fear from their tongues!”

Question 11

“‏ إِنَّ اللَّهَ رَفِيقٌ يُحِبُّ الرِّفْقَ وَيُعْطِي عَلَيْهِ مَا لاَ يُعْطِي عَلَى الْعُنْفِ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 11

4807 Indeed Allah is Gentle and loves gentleness and gives for it that he doesn’t give for harshness

Question 12

“‏ مَنْ يُحْرَمِ الرِّفْقَ يُحْرَمِ الْخَيْرَ كُلَّهُ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 12

4809 Whoever is deprived of gentleness is deprived of good entirely.

Question 13

‏ “‏ لاَ يَشْكُرُ اللَّهَ مَنْ لاَ يَشْكُرُ النَّاسَ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 13

4811 Whoever is not thankful to Allah is not thankful to people.

Question 14

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لَعَنَ مَنْ جَلَسَ وَسْطَ الْحَلْقَةِ ‏.‏

Answer 14

4826 Indeed the prophet SAWS cursed whoever sat in the middle of a circle.

Question 15

‏ “‏ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى دِينِ خَلِيلِهِ فَلْيَنْظُرْ أَحَدُكُمْ مَنْ يُخَالِلُ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 15

4833 A Man is upon the deen of his friends so he should consider any one of you who he befriends.

Question 16

الأَرْوَاحُ جُنُودٌ مُجَنَّدَةٌ فَمَا تَعَارَفَ مِنْهَا ائْتَلَفَ وَمَا تَنَاكَرَ مِنْهَا اخْتَلَفَ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 16

4843 The spirits are combined like a pair, those who know one another will be friendly, and those who do not, will keep apart.

Question 17

قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ بِأَخَرَةٍ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَقُومَ مِنَ الْمَجْلِسِ ‏”‏ سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ لَتَقُولُ قَوْلاً مَا كُنْتَ تَقُولُهُ فِيمَا مَضَى ‏.‏ قَالَ ‏”‏ كَفَّارَةٌ لِمَا يَكُونُ فِي الْمَجْلِسِ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 17

4859 The Prophet SAWS was saying at the end then he intended that he stands from his sitting place ((Glory be to you Oh Allah and praise be to you, I testify that There is no God but you, and i seek forgiveness and i repent to you)). A man said “Ya Rasuallah, indeed you say the words you do not usually say in the past? He Said “ It is Kafara for that was done in Sitting”

Question 18

“‏ لاَ يُبَلِّغْنِي أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِي عَنْ أَحَدٍ شَيْئًا فَإِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَخْرُجَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنَا سَلِيمُ الصَّدْرِ ‏”‏ ‏

Answer 18

4860 Do not backbite anyone from my sahabas about anyone, indeed i like that i come to you without anything in my chest.

Question 19

‏ “‏ إِذَا حَدَّثَ الرَّجُلُ بِالْحَدِيثِ ثُمَّ الْتَفَتَ فَهِيَ أَمَانَةٌ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 19

4868 When a man says a saying and then departs it is a trust.

Question 20

“‏ لاَ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ قَتَّاتٌ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

4871 The gossipers will not enter Jannah

Question 21

“‏ مِنْ شَرِّ النَّاسِ ذُو الْوَجْهَيْنِ الَّذِي يَأْتِي هَؤُلاَءِ بِوَجْهٍ وَهَؤُلاَءِ بِوَجْهٍ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 21

4872 The one who is the most Evil of the people is the one who has 2 faces: the one who is present with one face to the people and another face to others.

Question 22

أَنَّهُ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا الْغِيبَةُ قَالَ ‏”‏ ذِكْرُكَ أَخَاكَ بِمَا يَكْرَهُ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ قِيلَ أَفَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ فِي أَخِي مَا أَقُولُ قَالَ ‏”‏ إِنْ كَانَ فِيهِ مَا تَقُولُ فَقَدِ اغْتَبْتَهُ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ فِيهِ مَا تَقُولُ فَقَدْ بَهَتَّهُ ‏”‏

Answer 22

4874 Indeed the Prophet SAWS was asked: Ya Rasuallah, What is Ghibah? He said: It is saying something about your brother which he would dislike., he was asked again:

Question 23

‏ “‏ يَا مَعْشَرَ مَنْ آمَنَ بِلِسَانِهِ وَلَمْ يَدْخُلِ الإِيمَانُ قَلْبَهُ لاَ تَغْتَابُوا الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَلاَ تَتَّبِعُوا عَوْرَاتِهِمْ فَإِنَّهُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ عَوْرَاتِهِمْ يَتَّبِعِ اللَّهُ عَوْرَتَهُ وَمَنْ يَتَّبِعِ اللَّهُ عَوْرَتَهُ يَفْضَحْهُ فِي بَيْتِهِ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 23

4880 Oh people who believed by their tongues and belief did not enter their hearts. do not backbite muslims and do not search for their fault if anone searches for their faults Allah will search for his fault and if Allah searches for his fault he will disgrace him in his house.

Question 24

‏ “‏ الْمُسْلِمُ أَخُو الْمُسْلِمِ لاَ يَظْلِمُهُ وَلاَ يُسْلِمُهُ مَنْ كَانَ فِي حَاجَةِ أَخِيهِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ فِي حَاجَتِهِ وَمَنْ فَرَّجَ عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ كُرْبَةً فَرَّجَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ بِهَا كُرْبَةً مِنْ كُرَبِ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ وَمَنْ سَتَرَ مُسْلِمًا سَتَرَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 24

4893 A Muslim is a brother of a muslim and he does not wrong him nor abandon him. whoever is in need of his brother Alah will care for his needs and whoever removes from a muslim anxiety, Allah removes from him with it anxiety from the anxiety of the day of judgement, whoever conceals for a muslim Allah conceals for him on the day of judgement.

Question 25

“‏ إِنَّ اللَّهَ أَوْحَى إِلَىَّ أَنْ تَوَاضَعُوا حَتَّى لاَ يَبْغِيَ أَحَدٌ عَلَى أَحَدٍ وَلاَ يَفْخَرَ أَحَدٌ عَلَى أَحَدٍ ‏”‏ ‏.

Answer 25

4895 Indeed Allah revealed upon me that be humble so that no one oppresses another over another and nor boasts one over another.

Question 26

“‏ إِنَّ مِنْ إِجْلاَلِ اللَّهِ إِكْرَامَ ذِي الشَّيْبَةِ الْمُسْلِمِ وَحَامِلِ الْقُرْآنِ غَيْرِ الْغَالِي فِيهِ وَالْجَافِي عَنْهُ وَإِكْرَامَ ذِي السُّلْطَانِ الْمُقْسِطِ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Answer 26

4843 Indeed honouring Allah is honouring the grey hairs of a muslim and barer of the quran not the one who is extravant in it or turns away from it, honouring a just ruler.

Question 27

أَنَّهُ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا الْغِيبَةُ قَالَ ‏”‏ ذِكْرُكَ أَخَاكَ بِمَا يَكْرَهُ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ قِيلَ أَفَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ فِي أَخِي مَا أَقُولُ قَالَ ‏”‏ إِنْ كَانَ فِيهِ مَا تَقُولُ فَقَدِ اغْتَبْتَهُ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ فِيهِ مَا تَقُولُ فَقَدْ بَهَتَّهُ ‏”‏

Answer 27

4874 The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked: Messenger of Allah! What is back-biting? He replied: It is saying something about your brother which he would dislike. He was asked again: Tell me how the matter stands if what I say about my brother is true? He replied: If what you say of him is true, you have slandered him, and if what you say of him is not true, you have disgraced him.
