ABS - 1.1 - Seat Belt Absolute
Seat belts must be worn by operators and passengers of Company-owned, leased, or rented vehicles and equipment.
Seat belt compliance includes a proper pre-trip inspection to ensure the seat belt is in good working order and functioning properly.
ABS - 1.2 - PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
PPE must be properly worn by required personnel when appropriate.
PPE includes but is not limited to: protective clothing; shields; barriers; and equipment for eyes, face, head, hands, feet, and other extremities.
ABS - 1.3 - Uniforms
Approved uniforms must be worn by required personnel at all times during working hours.
Employees must be in their uniform and ready to work before clocking in for the day and remain for the duration of their shift
ABS - 2.1 - Fleet Security
Company vehicles must be secured while on route and while on site at Republic facilities.
On Route: Whenever a vehicle is left unattended and will be outside the drivers line of sight, or if the driver will be more than approximately 100 feet away from the vehicle, it must be shut down and the key removed.
On site: Whenever a vehicle is parked at a republic facility, the key must be removed, stored in a secure location, and the battery disconnect shut off.
ABS - 4.1 - Odor Management
Facility personnel must comply with the site specific approved Odor Management (OMP).
ABS - 4.2 - Pay for Hours Worked
All non-exempt employees must accurately and correctly record all time worked. Non-exempt employees are prohibited from working off the-the-clock (i.e. working without reporting the time worked).
Supervisors and Managers are prohibited from knowingly approving a non-exempt employee’s time records (including time sheet and time cards) that falsely or inaccurately reflects hours worked.
Supervisors and Managers must promptly address and reported mistakes regarding non-exempt employees’ time records.
ABS - 5.1 - Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan
All applicable facilities must comply with the site specific approved Stormwater Pollution prevention plan and adhere to all necessary federal, state and local regulatory rules and laws with regard to the clean water act.
ABS - 5.2 - Lock out Tag Out (LOTO)
Employees must adhere to the lock out tag out (energy control) procedure when servicing, maintaining, or cleaning out all company-owned, leased, or rented vehicles and equipment. Equipment includes, but is not limited to, conveyers, bailers, and heavy equipment.
ABS - 5.3 - No Commingling of Waste Streams
Only one waste stream is allowed on a route sheet. Each driver must service only one waste stream at a time in each load and dispose of the waste stream at the proper waste stream designated disposal facility.
ABS - 6.1 - Leachate Management
Landfill personnel must comply with the site-specific approved Leachate Management Plan (LMP). The facility must be in compliance at all times with all local, state, and federal operating permit conditions and regulations regarding leachate management and disposal
ABS - 7.1 - Focus 6 Skills - Based Training
Applicable frontline employees must complete the focus 6 skills-based exercise during any month in which a skills-based exercise is offered
Supervisors and Managers must schedule make up sessions so that frontline employees can complete the skills-based exercise during the month in which it is offered.
ABS - 11.1 - Immigration Compliance
Republic Services employs only those individuals who are authorized to work in the United States and/or Puerto Rico, as applicable.
To ensure all employees are authorized to work, HR Managers and Directors and Company representatives responsible for completing I-9s must make certain that
electronic I-9s and E-Verify tasks are completed properly for all new hires and rehires on their first day of employment, and that any subsequent mandatory I-9 and E-Verify tasks are completed properly and on time.
In addition, if at any time a Supervisor or Manager has actual knowledge or a credible reason to believe that an employee is not authorized to work, the Supervisor or Manager must immediately report that information to the Manager, Affirmative Action and Immigration so a determination can be made regarding the employee’s authorization to work.
STD - 3.1 - Workforce Planning Tool
All Collection Operations must use the Workforce Planning Tool at least once a month or when new headcount is required to ensure they are properly staffed.
STD - 6.2 - Truck Availability
Operations must provide a list of trucks needed for each day of the upcoming week, by truck type (LOB and style) to Maintenance by Thursday of each week.
Conversations between Operations and Maintenance must occur during the daily huddle to make sure that enough trucks are available and prepared for all assigned routes, every day.
An “available” truck meets all safety requirements (per Department of Transportation and company guidelines) and has no out-of-service violations.
STD - 7.2 - Planning the Day
Operations must have plans in place for the next week and the next day that reflect the goal of One Driver, One Truck, One Route.
A proper plan for the next week includes planned Crew-Out schedules for every day of the week to ensure we have enough drivers and trucks to run all routes. In addition, two contingency plans (Plan B and Plan C) must be prepared for each day in case of adverse or unexpected events. The upcoming week’s plan must be finalized by Wednesday, and adjusted as needed thereafter.
A proper updated plan for the next day includes an updated Crew-Out schedule that reflects the appropriate number of routes, drivers and trucks. In addition, contingency plans (Plan B and Plan C) must be updated in case of adverse or unexpected events.
