SSP starts from the 4th day of sickness and is paid up to a maximum of 28 weeks
How does the Equality Act 2010 define a Disability?
A physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on an employee’s ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities. The individual needs to have had this impact for at least 12 months.
What does the Equality Act cover in regards to disabled employees?
Protection against direct discrimination because of their disability, indirect discrimination in relation to their disability, and discrimination arising from their disability. In addition, discrimination occurs when an employer fails to comply with its duty to make reasonable adjustments in relation to a disabled employee.
