O2 ADMINISTRATION

  1. scene is safe
  2. draw the curtains/close the door
  3. hand hygiene
  4. greet the px
  5. Provide upright position if flat
    • „as you are having breathing difficulty,
      - It is important to maintain an upright position.
      - it helps to improve your chest expansion and lung volume
      - so may I provide you an upright position?

  1. Provide comfort position with pillows (pillows in a cross position)
  2. -„as you are having breathing problems,
    -your doctor advised for oxygen supplementation
    - so I’m going to administer oxygen for you.”
  3. Check px ID and hospital no. with the prescription chart
  4. Ask full name and DoB
  5. Check the patients allergy status from the prescription chart
  6. „My px is not allegric to to any drugs”

  1. Take the prescription chart and read loudly.
    • Nasal Cannula - O2 supplementation 2L-4L max
    • Face mask - O2 supplementation 5L-8L max

  1. Take appoproiate article accdng to the prescription.
  2. Attach O2 tubing and connect to the central oxygen line valve tightly
  3. Adjust the oxygen in the o2 line flowmeter.
  4. Check for working status from teh administratoon part
  5. „Oxygen is coming and it is working well”
  6. Connect oxygen tube to the px
  7. Oxygen tube around the the ears and tighten the lock on chin.
