Abortion Arguements Flashcards
No one knows when human life begins - that is a religious question that can’t be answered by science.
The fetus is just another part of a pregnant woman’s body, like her tonsils or her appendix; it’s just a clump of cells. You can’t seriously believe that a frozen embryo is a person.
It’s just a clump of cells - not a baby. Abortion is terminating a pregnancy, not killing a baby.
The fetus may be alive, but so are eggs and sperm. It’s a potential human being, not an actual one. It’s like a blueprint, or an acorn - it’s just potential.
The fetus isn’t even a person with a meaningful life; it’s tiny, and it can’t even think! It’s less advanced then an animal, and who says that people have a greater right to life than animals?
A fetus isn’t a person until implantation.
A fetus isn’t a person until quickening.
A fetus isn’t a person until viability
Obviously life begins at birth; That’s why we celebrate birthdays, instead of conception days, and why we don’t have funerals for miscarriages.
A fetus isn’t a person until it breathes the first time.
No one can really know that human life begins before birth.
Even if the unborn are human beings, they don’t have as many rights as the woman; No one should be expected to donate her body as a life support system for someone else.
Everyone has the right to choose; it wouldn’t be fair to restrict the woman’s choice by prohibiting abortion.
Every woman should have control over her body; Reproductive freedom is a basic right.
Abortion is a decision between a woman and her doctor; it’s no one else’s business. After all, the Constitution guarantees the right to privacy.
It’s unfair for an unmarried woman to have to face the embarrassment of pregnancy, or the pain of giving up a child for adoption.
