Abnormals & Emergencies Flashcards
V1 Cut
- Rotate slightly slower than normal to 12-13 degrees
400 feet:
- Roll mode
- Declare emergency (advise hdg)
- Rudder trim (15 units)
Accel Ht:
- A/P on (when stable & in trim)
- V/S - 0 to 200 (weight dependent)
- Box 5
- Flaps 5 (when >= F15 spd & accel)
At Flaps 5 (man spd):
- FL CH
- Re-bug Box 5
- Verify Continuous Thrust
Prior to Level-Off:
- A/T Arm switch - OFF
- After T/O checklist
- Engine Failure checklist
Approaching Level-Off:
- Reduce rudder trim to 10 units
- 2-in, 2-out, B4, FRAG check (brief G/A, overweight landing QRH)
- Descent check, Approach check
Single Engine ILS
- LOC/APPR, F5 & F5 man spd prior to LOC intx
- Gear Down (@ GS alive)
- Flaps 20
- Box on Ref (+ any wind correction)
- Rudder trim to 5 units
- Landing checklist
- Missed approach alt set (after G/S capture)
Go-Around (Single Engine)
Immediately:
- “Go around, Flaps 5”
- TOGA, full power, rudder same rate
- “Positive rate, gear up”
400 feet:
- Roll mode
- Advise Tower
- Rudder trim - 15 units
1000 feet (accel height, if no diversion required):
- Box 5
- After T/O checklist
- At ALT CAP, A/P on
- Rudder trim - 10 units
Windshear Considerations (Takeoff, Approach)
- Confirmed WS: delay T/O or discontinue approach
- WS conditions for T/O - more:
- Thrust
- Runway
- Flaps
- Time (e.g. delay)
- WS conditions for approach/landing:
- F25 or F30
- Stabilized early
- Gust additives if AT off
- Runway to avoid
- ADI indications
- Below 1000’: 15 kt, 500 fpm, 5 degrees, 1 dot, unusual thrust lever
Windshear Escape Maneuver (PF)
Click-Push-Push-Click
- A/P off
- G/A switch
- MAX thrust
- A/T off
- Simultaneously wings level & initial pitch to 15 degrees
- SB retract
- Follow FD guidance (if avail); smoothly continue to stick shaker if required
Windshear Escape Maneuver Recovery (PF)
- Stand up throttles
- Pitch to 15 degrees (breathe!)
- Normal T/O profile:
- Roll mode >= 400’ AGL, VNAV >= 1000’ AGL, retract flaps, AP on, After T/O checklist
- PM: PIREP
WINDSHEAR REACTIONS: < V1
- PWS CAUTION (“MONITOR RADAR DISPLAY”): Reject takeoff
- PWS WARNING (“WS AHEAD, WS AHEAD”): Reject takeoff
WINDSHEAR REACTIONS: After Takeoff
- PWS CAUTION: Maneuver to avoid
- PWS WARNING: Perform WEM
- Actual WS encounter: Perform WEM
WINDSHEAR REACTIONS: On Approach
- PWS CAUTION: Maneuver to avoid
- PWS WARNING: Perform WEM OR have option to do normal Go-Around
- Actual WS encounter: Perform WEM
ILS PRM Breakout
(VHF2 to “monitor” frequency)
ATC “Traffic Alert” followed by instructions
- Keep AT engaged!
- AP off, start turn and gentle climb/descent
- FDs off (PF commands PM)
- Once approaching heading:
- FDs on
- HDG SEL
- V/S 1000
- AP back on
- Box 5
- Flaps 20
- Positive rate, gear up
- Flaps 5
- After T/O checklist
If TCAS RA, follow TCAS vertically and ATC hdg
Windshear Escape Maneuver Recovery (PM)
- Assure MAX thrust
- Call out omissions (click-push-push-click)
- “You have guidance” (GA on FMAs)
- Call out trends
- “OUT OF WINDSHEAR”
- “PIREP Windshear, loss of ___kts at ___ft.”
