ABI UL Treatment Flashcards
Manual facilitation
- Breaching spastic synergy
- Reaching
- Hand opening
Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT)
Impairing the non-affected extremity (mechanically or functionally) to enhance the use of the affected extremity
Task oriented training with a high number of repetitions
Action Observation Therapy (AO)
Observation of an action before the person executes the action
- Gross upper limb function
- Gait parameters
- Reduction of spasticity
Motor/Mental Imagery
Activity imagined before the execution
- Improving physical practice
- Progression in functional activity of the affected UL and gait parameters
Mirror Visual Feedback
Observation in mirror (affected side hidden while NAS performing the mvt)
- Movement can mentally build to facilitate the activation of lesioned cortical areas
Use for:
- Pain therapy
- Movement therapy
Techniques for Unilateral Visuospatial Neglect
- Visual Scanning Training (VST)
- Limb Activation Treatment (LAT)
