Abdominal wall superficial fascia Flashcards
The superficial fatty layer (Camper’s fascia), a subcutaneous layer of fat whose thickness varies among individuals and that is continuous with
superficial fascia of thorax, back, and lower limb
The deep membranous layer (Scarpa’s fascia), a tough fibrous sheet that lies where, covers what, and extends into where
deep to the superficial fatty layer
covers lower anterior abdominal wall
extends inferior into perineum where its continuous with Colles’ fascia
The superficial fascia lies where and has two components:
Lies deep to the skin and superficial to the muscular layer
The superficial fatty layer (Camper’s fascia)
The deep membranous layer (Scarpa’s fascia)
What is the inguinal ligament and where does it attach
The thickened inferior edge of the external oblique aponeurosis
Attaches laterally to anterior superior iliac spine and medially to the pubic tubercle of the pubis
Fibers of the medial end of the inguinal ligament reflect downward as which ligament and where does it attach
Lacunar ligament to attach to the superior edge of the pubis
Inferiorly, the aponeuroses of the internal oblique and transversus abdominis muscles join to form what and where do they attach
Conjoined tenon
Attach to the pubis
What is the linea alba made up of
Aponeurosis of internal and external obliques and transversus abdominis
Umbilical ring
Remnant of the umbilical cord opening
The arcuate line is…
The inferior end of the posterior layer of the rectus shealth
Inferior to this, aponeuroses only pass anterior to the rectus muscle!
