center the IR at the level of the iliac crests and ensure that the pubic symphysis is included
Ap projection For the upright position
center the IR 2inches (5 cm) above the level of the iliac crests or high enough to include the diaphragm
Central ray for AP projection for supine position
Perpendicular to the IR at the level of the iliac crests
Central ray for AP projection for Upright Position
horizontal and 2 inches (5 cm) above the level of the iliac crests to include the diaphragm for the upright position
Structures shown
An AP projection of the abdomen
shows
the size and shape of the liver, the spleen

L lateral decubitus position
Use a position in most situations
left lateral decubitus
decubitus respiration
Suspend at the end of expiration.
left lateral decubitus CR?
Directed horizontal and perpendicular to the midpoint of the IR
