16
Q

What is type A aortic dissection?

A

usually involves aortic arch and aortic valve proximal to left subclavian (ascending aorta)

management : surgical replacement of arch

17
Q

What is type B aortic dissection?

A

Involves the descending thoracic aorta distal to the left subclavian.

18
Q

What are the symptoms of an aortic dissection?

A

Sever, central chest pain
radiating to back and down arms mimicking MI.
-pt shocked
-neuro symptoms due to loss of supply to spinal cord
-loss of peripheral pulses
