Class E and J alarms: Eng procedures for smoke/fire: _
Off shall return to lobby w/FF’s and secure necessary hose and equipment for Hi-Rise procedures. Check alarm panel again and recall elevators. Unless undue delay in arrival of add’l units, Eng shall remain in lobby for Lad company (5-94)
Class E and J alarms: Do Ladders need to return to lobby?
No since they have their normal compliment of tools. Lad Off shall return elevator to lobby w/a FF to operate. LCC reports to lobby (5-94)
If a fire is suspected/verified at Foreign Embassy, Consulate, or Missions what shall be done?
Stretch HL to front of bldg and/or bring Roll ups. If entry denied- Do NOT enter. Protect exposures and set up TL IFO bldg for exterior ops and rescue
Group 1 Single Unit Emergencies responding 10-20 Mode “WELTS”
Water leak, ERS NO contact (2300-0800), Lock-in (NO food on stove), Trees down (No wires, bldg, vehicle effected), Salvage truck
Group 2 Incidents require 1st Due Units on CADS/MDT to respond in Emergency Mode and Units other than 1st in 10-20 Mode. Group 2 call types include:
Class 3 Odors other than smoke, Manhole emergencies Electric emergencies Sprinkler activation,
BARS (1st Eng respond emergency mode only),
Class E and J alarms
What is the difference in response turnout in terms of Class J 0700-1900 and 1900-0700?
0700-1900: Only 1st Eng or 1st Lad respond
1900-0700: Box Assignment: 1st Alarm Units respond 1st Eng and 1st Lad Emergency Mode (other units modified) (5-94)
Class “E” “J” response Incorrect
A. 1 Eng or 1 Lad w/BC assigned to all “E” and “J” on 24 hour basis
B. Eng are assigned during alternate months starting Jan; Lad remaining
C. Class “E” for certain boxes require 3E, 2L, BC indicated on CIDS
D. Subsequent alarm for same address gives full 1st alarm assignment
A “J” 12 hours 0700-1900 1 Eng or 1 Lad w/BC; 1900-0700 1st Due Units respond

Class E correct
A. BC may respond or monitor alarm, even if CIDS message indicates Min Resp of 3E, 2L, 1 BC
B. If BC monitors alarm, you must notify Dispatcher
C. If no preliminary report received from Eng within 10 minutes, BC must respond
D. Eng transmits 10-35 Code 4, BC is responsible for NYFIRS report
E. If another alarm received for structural response while BC is monitoring Class E, as the next available BC you would be directed to respond to subsequent alarm by Dispatcher

B If BC responds to the “E” or “J” alarm, the dispatcher shall be notified.
C If the preliminary report from Unit is not received in
a reasonable time frame (5-10 minutes), Chief Officers monitoring the radio shall contact the dispatcher and request a preliminary report.
E BC shall NOT be directed to respond unless:
Dispatcher receives info of a serious fire and assigned Battalion is the nearest available Battalion Chief example 10-75 or 10-76.
Class J incorrect
A. BC responding to Class J shall notify Dispatcher from hours 0700-1900
B. BC may only monitor Class J from 0700-1900
C. Eng enters bldg w/FE tools, but no roll ups
D. If alarm does reset, Off shall remain approx 2-3 minutes to assure reset holds
E. If alarm does not reset or is again reactivated, the box should be transmitted
E Off must view the panel for alarm location and verify the floor from which alarm is transmitted

Diplomat correct
A. Diplomats and Consults may refuse FD entry into Private residence. Diplomats and consults are both issued Dept State ID
B. Diplomats and Consults may refuse FD entry to an embassy, consulate, or mission, but cannot deny entry to private residence
C. Lad Off should attempt to negotiate entry of either inside team or even just himself to investigate
D. Eng should stretch 2 1/2” HL for brownstone embassy as a precaution
E. AL and PL should be positioned for possible rescue

A Consults of foreign nations do not posses Dept of State ID cards, but they are to be treated in the same manner as Diplomats
B Private residence are included- may deny entry
C Members shall NOT operate independently.
D Stretch HL compatible with occupancy and fire conditions found (Brownstone 1 3/4” HL)
Foreign Embassy correct (2)
A. Dispatcher must be notified immediately that fire is in a Foreign Embassy and that entry was granted
B. Once granted entry, occupants can be ordered to leave if FD deems necessary
C. If explosives or ammo found anywhere, evacuate immediately and notify NYPD and Marshalls
D. Once granted entry, IC may send in relief companies to conduct overhauling and a secondary search, even if Embassy personnel object
E. PD liaison should be requested to respond

B D Embassy personnel may refuse to let relief companies in and they might refuse to allow overhauling. Do not argue, if asked to leave then do so
C Expect storage of ammo and explosives. If explosives and ammo are involved, evacuate immediately and notify NYPD and Fire Marshals
