Ausculation
Listening for sounds produced by the thorax cavity or abdominal region
Percussion
Palpation and tapping for rigidity or deformation
Ischemia
Blood flow is restricted to a certain part of the body
Dyspnea
Shortness of breath
Hemoptysis
Blood goes into the lungs, coughing blood
Hematemesis
Blood goes into the stomach, vomit blood
Ecchymosis
Discoloured skin from internal bleeding (bruise)
Air crepitus
Popping/ crackling sounds from lungs
Bony creptius
Popping, crackling of joints in the body
Cyanosis
Poor blood circulation
Pericardial tamponnade
Pericardium fills with fluid and your heart can’t expand.
Distension
Abnormally swollen outward
Hepperresonance
Air filling the area around the lungs so the lungs can’t expand fully (can’t breath)
Pylorus of stomach
First part of the small intestine that allows food to pass from stomach to intestine
Hypertension
High blood pressure
Levine Sign
Someone holding their chest, significantly a heart problem
Shock
Life threatening condition of circulation failure
Guarding
Voluntarily / involuntarily tensing muscles of abdomen
Pneumothorax
Blunt or sharp trama to the chest, air accumulation in the chest
Tension pneumothorax
Air from the lungs escaping into the pleural space and not allowed to return so it creates a one way valve- sucking air out of the body
Hemothorax
Blood collects in pleural space caused by fractured ribs or other trama
Traumatic Hysphyxia
