aAMS Flashcards
What does AMS provide ?
ECS Engine start Pressurization Anti ice Water pressure Hot air leak detection
What is bleed air used for?
ECS
Engine start
Engine and wing anti ice
Water pressurization
What cools the pre cooler
Cools the bleed air coming from the engine to the AMs
What cools the pre cooler
Ground N1 fan
What does the Overheat Detection System observe?
Engine bleeds and packs
APU bleed
Plumbing for the wing and engine anti ice system
Do both loops have to work to detect an overheat condition?
Yes. But if one fails the other one can work alone
When are the recirculating fan commanded off?
Cockpit switch Smoke detected in recirculating bay Dump button is pressed Respective pack is commanded off Fire detected in the cargo bay
What keeps the 3avionic E bays cool
FWD and center 3 fans pull from cabin
AFT natural flow from cabin to bay
When is the emergency Ram Air Ventilation activated?
Both packs commanded off or fail below 25000
Ram air pressure greater than cabin pressure on right
What happens when dump button is pressed?
Commands both packs off
Opens OFV and raises the cabin to 12400 2000’ pr min
If APU and engine air is available, who has priority?
APU if:
Wheel speeds less than50 and AI is off, or single engine taxi
When will the crossbleed valve atomatically open?
Only one side bleed is available
Engine 2 start in the air
Engine 1 start in the air if APU is not available
APU bleed is pushed out for start.
When and how will the system turn off an ECS pack?
The AMS can command a pack off due to air supply and bleed valve position
Or FADEC can send a signal to the AMS commanding a pack off when it’s required for engine performance
When are Packs recovered?
An altitude performance no longer require it
Or in case two engines; TL is reduced below TO/GO
What happens when smoke is detected in recirculating bay
Both fans deactivated
Cargo fan deactivated
Outflow valves close
