rescan every 12 months
4.5 - 5.4cm
rescan every 3 months

refer within 2 weeks to vascular for repair

refer within 2 weeks to vascular for repair
high rupture risk
symptomatic, >5.5cm, rapidly enlarging >1cm/year
treatment of AAA
Elective Endovascular Repair (EVAR) or open repair if unsuitable
what is EVAR
a stent is placed into the abdominal aorta via the femoral artery to prevent blood from collecting in the aneurysm
complication of EVAR
endo-leak, where the stent fails to exclude blood from the aneurysm, and usually presents without symptoms on routine follow-up
Any elderly man with back pain gets what
a ultrasound scan to exclude a AAA before any other diagnosis is considered, especially if they have haemodynamic instability
