When can single engine IFR be conducted? (4 items)
1) Private operations
2) Aerial work
3) Non passengers charter
4) Passenger charter with approval by CASA
When is a fuel drain required?
Prior to the first flight of the day and after every each refuelling
Refuelling distance requirements
1) 5 metres from a sealed building
2) 6 metres from stationary aircraft
3) 9 metres from an unsealed building
4) 15 metres from an exposed public area
Who can refuel an aircraft?
1) PIC
2) An oil company representative
Requirements for fuel from a drum
Stand for 15 minutes
Less than 1 year old
Seals/bungs secure
Check from contamination
Drum refuelling procedure
1) Earth the drum + aircraft to the ground
2) Earth the drum to the aircraft
3) Earth nozzle to aircraft
4) Check pump and equipment for contamination
When can night VFR be conducted?
To return to home base when running late. Pilot must hold IPC or be approved by chief pilot
Otherwise must be IFR
IRM (immediately reportable matters) time frame
As soon as possible via telephone
Written follow up within 72 hours

1) Determined the wind direction
2) Broadcast intentions approx 15nm prior
3) Established on final by 3nm
4) All external light ON
Speed and height requirements for a visual circuit
Planned at 1000ft not above 150kts IAS

1000’ cloud base and 5km visibility
