What are the statutory reporting requirements and procedures?
A
RIDDOR (reporting of injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences regulations 2013 gives the detailed requirements for those accidents that have to be reported by the employer.
- fatalities
- specified injuries such as fractures (other than fingers, toes), amputation, permanent loss sight, serious burn, unconsciousness caused by head injury or asphyxia
- over seven day injuries
- injuries to non workers who require hospitalization
- over three day injuries (record must be kept)
- reportable occupational diseases such as dermatitis, tendonitis, carpal tunnel, occupational asthma, HAVS, occupational cancer, exposure to biological agents.
- reportable dangerous occurrences (near misses)
such as collapse of lifting equipment, plant or equipment in contact with overhead lines, explosions or fire causing work to be seized for more than 24 hours.
