A

Everyone has the right to liberty and security of person.

A

Everyone who is arrested shalll be informed promptly, in a language which he understands, of the reasons for his arrest and of any charge against him.

Article 5 Section 3

A

Anyone arrested or detained in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 1(c) shall be brought promptly before a judge or any other officer authorised by law to exercise judicial power and shall be entitled to trial within a reasonable time or release pending trial.

A

Everyone who is deprived of his liberty by arrest or detention shall be entitled to take proceedings by which if the lawfulness of his detention shall be decided speedily by a court, and release ordered if detention is not lawful.

A

A constable may search any person, vehicle or anything on or in the vehicle if they have grounds for suspecting they may find any stolen property or prohibited articles. i.e. Offensive weapons, corrosive substances, prohibited fireworks.
(i) To search a person without first arresting him.
(ii) To search a vehicle without making an arrest.

S24 PACE.
Section 1 and Subsections 1(A)- 3(B)

A

1) A constable may arrest without a warrant–
(a) anyone who is about to commit an offence;
(b) anyone who is in the act of committing an offence.
(c) anyone for whom he has reasonable grounds for suspecting to be about to commit an offence.
(d) anyone whom he has reasonable grounds for suspecting to be committing an offence.
2) If a constable has reasonable grounds for suspecting that an offence has been committed, he may arrest without a warrant anyone whom he has reasonable grounds to suspect to be guilty of it.
3) If an offence has been committed, a constable may arrest without a warrant–
(a) Anyone who is guilty of the offence
(b) Anyone whom he has reasonable grounds for suspecting to be guilty of it.
