A320 Overhead Panel Flashcards

1
Q

What does the ADIRU ON BAT light mean? How long will the light remain on for?

A

The aircraft batteries are powering one or more ADIRU; it also comes on briefly during alignment.

The ON BAT light will remain illuminated for 5 minutes to retain alignment data to allow a geneator reset. ADIRU 1 light will remain on

Q

What does a flashing ALIGN light mean on the IR panel?

A

There is an alignment fault on the associated IR

  • no present pos entered after 10 minutes; or
  • 1 degree of difference between ppos and memorised position

A dual IR failure will increase LDR because anti-skid is lost

Q

What happens when the nav selector is placed in nav mode?

A

This is the normal position for alignment and navigation.

Full alignement takes 7-10 minutes

Fast alignment takes 3 minutes and is available only if the IRs were previously aligned; fast alignment must be done when the IRS Position differs by 5nm or more from the FMGC position

11
Q

What does the RAT FAULT light mean?

A

It means that the emergency generator is not supplying power when AC 1 + 2 are not powered and the nose landing gear is up.

(A319 - light comes on only if the gen is not powered when AC 1 + 2 are not poeered; independent of gear position)

12
Q

What does the guarded EMERG GEN P/B do?

A

In AUTO: this will cause the RAT to extend is airspeed is > 100kts with the nose landing gear in the up position.

Once extended the RAT will couple within 3 seconds providing power as long as speed is not less than approximately 140 kts

A319 RAT works down to 125kts

Q

What does the TERR p/b FAULT light mean?

A

A fault is detected in the EGPWS terrain awareness display or terrain clearance floor functions. TAD is computed with captains baro setting and does not have baro setting error protection.

TAD and TCF work on FMGC 1 position.

16
Q

What do the TERR SYS P/B OFF & FAULT lights mean?

A

OFF: all GPWS warnings are inhibited

FAULT: GPWS malfunction; all warnings are inhibited

17
Q

What does the G/S, FLAP MODE, LDG FLAP 3 p/b do?

A

OFF:

  • Glideslope EGPWS mode is disabled
  • Too low flaps warning is disabled
  • too low flaps warning is inhibited when flaps are at 3 for landing
18
Q

What are the 5 EGPWS modes?

A

Mode 1: Excessive descent rate “sink rate”

Mode 2: excessive terrain closure “terrain terrain”

Mode 3: altitude loss after takeoff “dont sink”

Mode 4: unsafe terrain clearance “too low flaps”

Mode 5: excessive glideslope deviation “glideslope”

19
Q

What does the RCDR GND CTL P/B do?

A

AUTO: the CVR And DFDF are engergised automatically…

  • for 5 minutes after aircraft power up
  • after an engine is started
  • in-flight
  • powered for 5 minutes after the last engine is shut down

ON: both CVR and DFDR are energised; the light will extinguish after engine start

20
Q

What does the CVR erase p/b do?

A

If the aircraft is on the ground with the park brake set the CVR will be erased

21
Q

What does the CVR test p/b do?

A

If held in, with the RCDR GND CTL p/b switched to ON and the parking brake is set, it activates the test; a low frequency tone will be heard over the speakers and a headset if plugged in

22
Q

What does the oxygen mask p/b do in the auto and man on positions?

A

In auto the masks will deploy if the cabin altitude exceeds 14,000ft +/- 500 and a pre-recorded message will play in the cabin.

Chemical generators work for 13-15 minutes depending on MSN

In man on the masks will be commanded to deploy but there will be no auto announcement
