A319 Memory Items Flashcards
Loss of Braking
“LOSS OF BRAKING”
REV - MAX (IF Req’d, may keep max reverse until full stop)
BRAKES - RELEASE
“ANTI-SKID OFF” (switches BSCU to ABCU & activates alternate braking, nose wheel steering is lost)
PM Selects Anti-skid & NWS sw - OFF
BRAKES -PRESS
MAX BRK PR - 1000psi (“1000” or ABCU)
IF Still NO Braking:
PARK BRAKE - SHORT APPLICATIONS
ABCU Automatically limits brake pressure to 1000psi on SOME FINS Only. Otherwise, Monitor brake pressure on BRAKES PRESS Indicator (Triple Indicator) to avoid locking a wheel/skidding/tire failure. - FCOM DSC-32-30-10 p 6/10. DSC-32-30-20 p 1/12 & 3/12
See Differences Card if ABCU is installed
Smoke / Fire from lithium battery

“BACKUP TO THE FLIGHT DECK, BACKUP TO THE FLIGHT DECK”
Smoke/Fire From Lithium Battery QRH:
IF necessary, transfer control to the flight crewmember seated on the opposite side of the fire
- CKPT/CAB COM - ESTABLISH
- Storage after LI BAT FIRW cabin procedure - Request Initiation
IF flames:
Oxygen mask (PF) - 100%/EMER use
Smoke Hood (PM) - use
(FOM:12.4.16
-Shall Don O2 mask 100% before using Halon fire extinguisher on the flight deck - FOM 12.4.5
IF no flames or when fire extinguished & Not possible to remove from flight deck:
-Water/non-alcoholic liquid- pour on device
-Device - Monitor
If possible to remove from the flight deck:
-Device - Transfer to cabin
At any time of the procedure, if smoke becomes the greatest threat:
-Removal of smoke/fumes - Consider
At any time of the procedure, if situation becomes unmanageable:
-Immediate Landing - Consider
FOM:12.4.16:
-Flight Crew Shall Don O2 mask 100% before using Halon fire extinguisher on the flight deck - FOM 12.4.5
-Establish Communication
-Control the Aircraft
-Unplug device from charger
-Use fire gloves
-Remove device from holder and place on floor
-Unlock FD Door
-IF no FA, remove device from FD, then use fire extinguisher
-Place device inside PED Bag
-Submerge device in water (or other non-flammable liquid)
-Do NOT cover with ice
Unreliable Speed Indication
(Click, click, click, pitch/power, Flap, up, up)
IF the safe conduct of the flight is impacted:
“UNRELIABLE SPEED”

A/THR - OFF
FD’s - OFF (PM)
PITCH / THRUST:
BELOW THRUST RED ALT - 15°/TOGA
ABOVE thrust Red & BLO FL100 - 10°/CLB
ABOVE thrust Red & ABV FL100 - 5°/CLB
FLAPS 0-3 = MAINTAIN CURRENT CONF
FLAPS FULL - SET FLAPS 3 AND MAINTAIN
SPEEDBRAKES - RETRACTED
L/G - UP
ABOVE MSA or CCT ALT - LEVEL OFF & troubleshoot.
- Level off using unreliable speed QRH table
- MUST Level Off IF Memory Items applied
- Consider using Bird / FPV as it’s reliable in most cases (not all)
QRH - NAV tab - UNRELIABLE SPEED INDICATION
“CHECKLIST UNRELIABLE SPEED INDICATION”
To Level Off:
AP - OFF
A/THR - OFF
FD - OFF
SPEEDBRAKE - CHECK RETACTED
PITCH/THRUST TABLE - APPLY
CLEAN:
Above FL250 = 3° & 54-94%
Below FL250 = 4° & 54-94%
FLAP CONF 1-3:
4.5-7.5° & 52-74%
- Stabilize Altitude
- IF Pitch is ABOVE the target pitch, INCREASE thrust & maintain altitude
- IF Pitch is BELOW target pitch, DECREASE thrust & maintain altitude
Below FL250 IF BUSS installed:
- Use BUSS
- Fly the green
- Use Bird / FPV If reliable
- Don’t use speedbrake
- To extend flap, fly lower green band
- To retract flap, fly upper green band
Engine Failure - High Altitude Cruise
THRUST - MCT
A/THR - OFF
SPD SEL - GREEN DOT & PULL - ensure SPD mode
HDG SEL - AS REQ’D (NAV or PULL turn IF req’d - 30° off)
ALT SEL - SET EO PERF pg or MEA & PULL
ATC - MAYDAY
“ECAM ACTIONS”
Descent strategy based on Relight, Time and Obstacle Clearance
QRH-ABN - MISC - Oceanic Diversion - Engine Out
When required, resume normal descent with A/THR engaged and FMGS Speed
OBSTACLE STRATEGY:
-MCT
-Green Dot
-ATHR OFF
-PERF CRZ Pg Driftdown Altitude (+/- 500’ w/o ATC clearance)
- Refer to QRH PERF OEI gross ceiling @ green dot
STANDARD STRATEGY:
Resume Standard Strategy descent when clear of obstacles & on offset track (if req’d) - better for windmill relight:
-MCT
-M.78/300kt
-Set REC MAX EO from PROG Page (+/- 500’ w/o ATC clearance)
-Refer to QRH PERF OEI gross ceiling @ LRC
-Keep ATHR Off and MCT set
When VS is less than 500 fpm:
-Set VS -500
-Set A/THR - ON
FIXED SPEED:
-Used on ETOPS
-MCT
-Speed M.78/320
-15,000’ (+/- 500’ w/o ATC clearance)
Level at EO LRC Ceiling:
-Set Managed Speed
See FCTM Engine Failure during cruise
