A02 Impact on Modern Practice Flashcards
in addition to Ruther and Daly being apart of the seminary curriculum as well as an increase in ordained women from 1907, what could this indicate?
that Ruther and Daly’s contribution to feminist theology were successful
Most Christians in the world belong to churches where women are not ordained, what evidence about pope Francis also support the view that Ruther and Daly wasn’t successful?
in 2014, pope indicated his willingness to accept women as deacons, later on stating that women will not be admitted in priest hood, due to not having a resemblance to Jesus as a male was chosen for re-incarnation, which is what led Daly to conclude that Patriarchy is far too embedded
what are the issues that still affect equality, even in churches that DO ordain women?
in the church of England, congregation is allowed to opt out from having female priests, as well as an increase in unpaid clergy and women having to fight for maternity rights
What is the main issue why Reuther and Daly think equality isnt enough and a reform is still needed?
because the church treats the laity as a passive group which needs instructions from higher sanctioned leaders which seems more like a way to boost their ego rather than creating a liberating church, hence why Daly encourages women to be anti-church
what three areas would require positive answers to know whether or not Feminist Theology was impactful?
if the church fights for humans rights, if the church uses androgynous language, if the church has an inclusive approach for women.
