Williams’ family

A

His father was a travelling salesman - gambler as well as an alcoholic. His accomodation in Missouri reflected Stellas living conditions - small and cramped. Williams was close to his sister Rose, however she was diagnosed as schizophrenic and institutionalised. She was lobotomized which failed and left her incapacitated. Rose and Williams shared a genetic vulnerability of deep depression, which he called ‘blue devils’.
