The image of the streetcar as the driving force of passion conveys the helplessness of its riders, but stresses also the element of choice; they have made the decision to board it

Stella is very aware of her actions but is still swayed by others, further proving the submissive role she plays this is shown with the quote “oh g=, god, what have u done to my sister?”
