What does Stigmatize mean?
To label a person or object as society unexcitable
Self-degradation
You lower a person’s feelings or status and respect.
Marginalization
People being denied rights or power.
Oppression
Oppression is prolonged cruel or unjust treatment or control.
Internalized Oppression
Internalized oppression is the acceptance by members of stigmatized races of negative messages about their own abilities and worth, characterized by their not believing in themselves or others who look like them.
Systematic Oppression
External oppression is defined as the lack of access to goods, services, and opportunities of society. It is the unjust exercise of authority and power by one group over another. It includes imposing one group’s belief system, values and life ways over another group.
Stereotype
A stereotype is a widely held (many people tend to believe an idea) but oversimplified or degrading image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.
Minstrel Shows
Minstrel shows were a type of stage entertainment featuring songs, dances, and formulaic comic routines based on stereotyped depictions of black Americans and typically performed by white actors with blackened faces. It developed in the US in the early and mid 19th century and was widely performed until the mid 20th century but is now regarded as highly offensive.
Segregation
The enforced separation of different racial groups in a country, community, or establishment.
Left Wing
They are left wing politics, people who care about the poor people and the people who are in the lower class or people who care about the underdogs.
Redlining
It is a type of discretion for people of color, these people can’t buy a house because of their color.
The Great Migration
One of the larger movements in the United states. 6,000,000 colored people moved and walked and migrated to the USA.
