A&P theory 1300 Flashcards
unit 3 Cardiovascular
P Wave
Atrial depolarization
PR interval
Start of atrial depolarization through start of ventricular depolarization
QRS Complex
Ventricular depolarization / atrial repolarization; atrial repolarization not detected
QT interval
Time needed for ventricular depolarization and repolarization
T wave
Ventricular repolarization
Systole
The chambers contract and eject blood
Diastole
The chambers relax and fill with blood
Heart Rate
The number of heart beats per minute.
Stroke volume
The volume of blood ejected from the ventricles per beat.
Cardiac output
The volume of blood ejected from the left ventricle per minute.
End-diastolic volume (EDV)
End-diastolic volume (EDV) is the volume of blood in the right and/or left ventricle at end load or filling in (diastole) or the amount of blood in the ventricles just before systole.
End-systolic volume (ESV)
End-systolic volume (ESV) is the volume of blood in a ventricle at the end of contraction, or systole, and the beginning of filling, or diastole.
Atrial diastole
Atrial diastole
Chambers fill with blood returning to the heart
Ventricular systole
Ventricular systole
Contraction moves blood through the semilunar valves
Atrial systole
Atrial systole
Contractions moves some blood into a relaxed ventricle
