A&P Anterior Seg. Flashcards
Ocular anterior anatomy/physiology
White outer layer that is continuous with cornea and protective sheath covering optic nerve
Sclera
Loose Connective tissue that lines lids, covers sclera and stabilizes tear film
Conjunctiva
Outer Transparent layer
Cornea
Boarder of cornea and sclera what we measure using angles
Limbus
Aqueous filled space between the iris and corneal endothelium.
Anterior Chamber
Secretes aqueous layer of the tear film
Lacrimal Gland
Drainage system for tears
Lacrimal Duct
Carries tears from eyes to nasal cavity
Nasolacrimal Duct
Circular Lymphatic-like vessel that collects aqueous from the anterior chamber and delivers it into episcleral blood vessels
Schlemm’s Canal
Round hole in the center of iris that passes light
Pupil
Responsible for how much light goes through the pupil
Iris
Narrow space behind peripheral part of iris and in front of suspensory ligament of lens/ciliary process
Posterior Chamber
Part of uvea that delivers oxygen and nutrients to the eye tissues
Ciliary Body
Smooth muscle fibers that change shape of lens to achieve accommodation
Ciliary Muscles
Secretes nutrient fluid to nourish structures. The lens is suspended by ligaments
Ciliary Process
