What was the Whiskey Rebellion?

A

The Whiskey Rebellion was a rebellion or protest in 1794 when whiskey was taxed. Federal marshals were attacked to try to stop this tax. This ended with Washington using the Constitution to enforce or get rid of things he did not agree with or think was good for the country. :P

A

Washington wrote his Farewell Address to show the people of America that a president should not serve for over two terms, which each term being four years. He also thought that him staying as president for life would do more harm than good.

The voting was a tie so the House of Representatives decided. Hamiltion decided that Jefferson should be president because he would at least be a better president although they did not have the same beliefs. Hamiltion decided not to vote for Burr because of personal conflicts and his bad opinions on him.

A

Marbury Vs. Madison was where James Madison did not hire Marbury because his hiring papers were not brought over to the place they were supposed to be. The courts decided that what he had done was bad and illegal, but nothing could be done to stop him from doing it.

A

The Louisiana Purchase was the purchase of land from France. This was done because France needed money during the Haitian Revolution. The deal was originally $10 Million for New Orleans, but America got all the land for $15 Million.

A

The Lewis & Clark Expedition was where the western territory of America was explored. Sacagewea was someone there during the trip that stopped any conflicts with Native American tribes and translated for the explorers.

Causes
- Britain was capturing Americans at sea and forcing them to fight for the British in and ongoing war with France.
-The US tried to trade with both countries and stay neutral.
-An attack happened on a boat that was heading to the Mediterranean Sea, The Chesapeake was stopped by a British ship. When the people on the Chesapeake refused to let the British on, they attacked the American ship.
-Americans were also attacked by Native Americans, the Native Americans were close allies with the British. This made the Americans think that they were being attacked because of the British telling the Native Americans to and supplying them.
The Embargo Act ( America could not trade with France or Britain. )
-The War Hawks wanted to start war and take Florida and Canada.
Events
- The US went to war with Britain for about 2 years.
Effects
-The Federalist party was shunned away and ruined.
-The Star-Spangled Banner was written by Francis Scott Key.
-The British still owned Canadian Territory and America Still Own Their Own Territory.
-The fishing rights of Americans were improved after the war.
-A Treaty was signed to end the war between America and Britain.

A

The Monroe Doctrine was where America could not make new territory in Europe and Europe could not make new territory’s in North or South America.
