The setting of the play is that of a mosque, which is probably probably staged at a palace. Their were dancing, singing, and elaborate costumes. It would also have had a touch of supernatural element and burlesque clowning. It takes place in mythical Athens.

Beginning framework

A

Theseus, the raining duke, had Colcord the Amazons and had fallen in love with Hippolyta, the queen of the Amazons. He has won her over with his sword. He proclaims that their wedding is to take place in a few short days. Is this wedding that provides the framework for the play and brings all the characters together in mythical Athens. Next, egeus, a wealthy Athenian, takes his daughter to the Duke. He is angry with her because she is not choosing the man that he wants her to choose. Having fallen in love with Lysander, Hermia refuses to marry Demetria, Her father’s choice. Demetrius have been in love with Hermia’s friend, Helena, but has abandoned her for Hermia. Anguished, Egeus determines judgment on his daughter.

The theme of the play is that “Love hath no law but his own. “Love is blind, unreasonably, and I’m predictable. Most every scene in the play is related to this thing, where the entire play is a mixup of crisscrossing of threads.

Lysander’s words “The course of true love never did run smooth” (line 134) Is referred to display a number of times. For example, Theseus loves Hippolyta but one her by doing her injustice. Hermes for love of Lysander defiles her father and the Athenian law. Demetrious makes love to Helena but desirous Hermia. Hermia is Willeby both Lysander and Demetrius, who is equally suited for her, but sees only one of the men. Demetrius, who is corded Helena and eventually marries her, hates Her for a Time, and is, in fact, quite cruel to her.
