What is the major cause of tides
The moon is the major cause of tides because it is closer to the Earth so that means it has more effect.
What causes tides?
The gravitation pull from the moon and the sun.
Why do oceans bulge near the equator?
Oceans bulge near the equator because the Earth rotates on its axis.
Why are oceans not flung completely off the Earth?
This is because the Earth’s gravity pulls the ocean back.
Why does the opposite side of the Earth not facing the Moon experience a high tide?
This side of Earth experiences a high tide because the Earth is pulled towards the Moon leaving a bulge.

What causes higher tides than usual (spring tides)?
When the sun is on the same or opposite side of the Earth and Moon Spring tides occur. Occurring during a full or new moon.
What are low tides and high tides that are not high or low as usual called?
Neap tides. (Occur at first or last quarter moons)
