Interjection
Sudden remark, often used as an interruption (“bah humbug!”)
Pathetic fallacy
When human emotions are projected into nature, especially the weather, often to create a mood.
Prolepsis
A flash forward (the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come shows Scrooge this)
Superlative
An adjective describing the highest degree of what it is (The Ghost of Christmas Past has clothing of the “purest white”
Authorial voice
An authoritive voice which the ghosts have.
Foil
A character which serves to contrast another, to emphasise certain characteristics of the other character (Fred is a foil to Scrooge)
Philantrophy
An act of helping those less well off then yourself, especially involving donations of money.
Altrustic attitude
Behaviour which is based on the devotion to others.
Hyperbole
Use of exaggerated statements
Didactic
A moral message, meaning to give instructions (e.g. Dickens moral message at the end)
Auditory imagery
Language which appeals to the readers hearing.
Olfactory imagery
Anguage that appears to the readers sense of smell.
