‘farmhouse’ symbolic of nature and rural life. ‘lingers’ nature always going to be there no matter the urbanisation. Verb is gentle non-confrontational, quiet power of nature.
‘new city street it has to wear”
nature being forced into conformity however ‘wear’ is temporary.

organisation juxtaposes the flow and freedom of nature.
“strength and impulse”
Personification, Frost reminds the reader of natures ability to persevere no matter the situation.
“That held the house as in an elbow-crook?”
personification, the brook is supporting the the house highlighting the significance of nature and how it supports humanity - gentle and affectionate.
“meadow grass” - ‘cemented down” - “growing”
juxtaposition - even when nature is oppressed by humanity it fights back to not just survive but thrive despite rapid urbanisation.
“How else dispose of an immortal force no longer needed?”
- “immortal” - nature will always prevail it will live out humanity highlighting nature ultimate power. God-like.
- rhetorical question - sarcastic tone Frost reminds the reader that humanity needs nature, we need to depend on it for life highlighting natures significance and importance. The rhetorical question also questions the readers values in order for Frost to egt his message out

Juxtaposes ‘held’ highlights the aggression of humanity when it comes to nature.

Imagrey of darkness to highlight natures disregard for nature and even though nature is tried to be shoved down below the city in total ‘darkness’ nature is still flourishing
“This new built city from both work and sleep.”
Criticism of humanity as humanity is suggested to be futile due to it’s receptiveness of every day life. There is also a criticism of the lifestyle so the of the city people as they try to destruct nature to have a happy life which is ironic as humanity depend on nature for life itself.
