What does DNS stand for?
Domain Name Server
What is the function of DNS?
Translates IPs into domains.
What are Directory Services used for?
Organise Information on network objects such as users & computers. (uac, login information, software versions)
What are some common Directory Services?
AD - Active Directory (Windows)
OD - Open Directory (Mac OS)
OpenLDAP - Linux
What is the server called that runs the directory service?
Domain Controller
What do domain services provide?
information about the network is available from a single repository making it easily accessible to users to allow for centralised administration, authorisation and authentication.
What do Authentication Services provide?
username/password login authentication based on the details in your directory services on your domain controller

What is the main function of DHCP?
assigns IPs to devices
What is the process involved in routing?
directing data packets between multiple networks to reach its destination.

through the use of routing tables.
