- Implement changes when appropriate

- Exert excess pressure, with unrealistic timescales and budgets
- Issues comprise the quality of work
- Organisational stresses can lead to poor industrial relations, high staff turnover, increased absenteeism and, most importantly for the aviation industry, more accidents due to human errors
What are flight crew responsible for conducting?
Pre-flight checks and reporting aircraft faults to maintenance personnel
What are the advantages of individual responsibility?
- Engineer understands which tasks have been assigned to them
- Incentive to do work correctly as they will be held responsible
What is the main disadvantage of emphasis on personal responsibility?
It can undermine the importance of working together, as a cohesive team, to achieve goals

What must a part 145 approved organisation establish?
If the employee is competent
What are the advantages of group responsability?
- Each member feels collectively responsible
- Ensures the product is safe
- Cross-checking, challenging if something is wrong
What are the disadvantages of group responsibility?
- Can cause no one to feel personally responsible
- Can assume other people will do something
What is intergroup conflict?
When rivalries happen in groups, stopping teams from sharing responsibility
What is group polarisation?
When the group makes more extreme decisions, can lead to a riskier course of action
What is social loafing?
The tendency for individuals to work less hard when they believe others are working on the same thing
