What is data?
Data is unstructured, unorganised, is unprocessed and therefore has no meaning.
What is information?
Information is structured, organised, is processed and therefore has meaning.
How is information presented?
Tables, charts/graphs, numbers, text, infographics.
What is an infographic?
Where different methods of presenting information are combined, e.g. a poster with tables and charts.
What is the difference between qualitative and quantitative data?
Qualitative data, like this document, is text-based, lots of information but not easy to measure, whereas quantitative data is numerical and thus easy to measure and to draw comparisons.
How do you format a spreadsheet?
Bold, colour fill, currency (data type), filter, sort.
What are the basic calculations?
Sum, min, max, average and count.
What are the benefits of using formulas in a spreadsheet?
The formula once entered is saved and therefore even if the data changes, the formula will automatically recalculate the result.
What is a dashboard?
A dashboard is used to summarise the information resulting from the raw data.
What is the benefit of charts/graphs?
They are a visual summary which can be used to make basic observations and decisions.
What is the benefit of tables?
Tables are structured with clear headings which provide a context to the information presented on the dashboard.
