Apostle
One who saw the Risen Christ and was sent by him to proclaim the Gospel, being given the authority to teach, sanctify and govern.
Apostolic Succession
The passing on of the spiritual gifts and authority in the Church from the Apostles to the bishops today.
Bible
The collection of Jewish and Christian sacred writings considered inspired by God.
Bishop
A leader of a local Church (diocese) who has received the spiritual gifts and responsibilities first given to the Apostles by Jesus.
Divine
The characteristics of God.
Divine Communication of Love
The belief that there exists a perfect relationship of love between God that Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Ecumenical Council
Gathering of bishops from around the known world under the presidency of the Pope to regulate matters of faith, morals and discipline.
Eucharist
The sacrament by which believers share in the Paschal mystery of Christ’s death and resurrection by receiving his Body and Blood in the form of bread and wine.

Incarnation
The belief that God became fully human and yet remain fully divine when Jesus was born of human flesh and blood.
Infallibility
The gift of the Holy Spirit that protects the Magisterium from making errors when solemnly defining matters relating to faith and morals.

The teaching office of the Pope and bishops, who have that spiritual gifts of infallibility to teach, guide and preserve the Church’s Tradition.
Mystery
The nature of certain events where its meaning can never be fully understood.
Tradition
The teachings about God handed on by the Apostles to the Church today under the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
Trinity
The belief that there is one God in three persons, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
