9 Week Flashcards
Distance vs displacement
Distance is how much ground, displacement is how far
A coordinate system is yes to represent and measure properties of objects
Frame of reference
Resultant vector
A vector sum of two or more vectors
The rate at which something is able to move
Speed
The distance traveled by the object divided by the duration of the interval
Average speed
The limit of the average speed as the duration of the time interval approaches zero
Instantaneous speed
The speed of something in a given direction
Velocity
The overall force acting on an object
Net force
3 types of friction
Rolling, sliding, static
The highest velocity attainable in a free fall
Projectile motion
Newton, Aristotle, Galileo
Aristotle bc, Galileo 1500s, Newton
Bodies continue at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force
Inertia
Mass vs weight
Mass is the amount of matter something has, weight is the pull of gravity on an object
Greater mass =
Slower exelleration
Momentum=
Kg• m/s (kg) mass•velocity
