Simple harmonic motion =
motion where the acceleration/force is proportional to the displacement from a fixed point and is directed towards the fixed point
Resolution =
the ability of an imaging system to be able to produce two separate distinguishable images of two separate objects.
Rayleigh criterion =
two sources are just resolved if the central maximum of the diffraction pattern of one source falls on the first minimum of the other.
Resolvance of a diffraction grating =
the ratio of the average wavelength to the range in wavelengths.
The Doppler effect =
the apparent change in the frequency of a wave when there is relative movement between the source and the observer.
